Qatar’s ambassador to Nepal Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari paid a courtesy call to Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav at the Vice President’s office in Lainchaur on Tuesday. The meeting was focused on bilateral relations, employment, trade, and the exchange of visits, according to the Vice President's Office.

During the discussion, Vice President Yadav requested the Qatari government to ensure round-the-clock insurance for Nepali workers, facilitate the rescue and compensation of Nepalis who have died or been injured in Qatar, and provide necessary assistance to Nepalis in hospitals, deportation centres, and prisons.

“There are currently 67 Nepalis serving prison sentences in Qatar, and many others are living undocumented,” said Vice President Yadav. “Iurge Qatar government to take initiations to grant amnesty, reduce prison terms, and assist undocumented Nepalis in obtaining regular employment or returning to Nepal.”

The Vice President expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between Nepal and Qatar in regional and multilateral forums on issues of mutual interest. He also appreciated Qatar’s mediation efforts in securing the release of Nepali citizen Bipin Joshi and other hostages.

Ambassador Ansari emphasised the importance of strengthening Nepal-Qatar relations and expressed Qatar’s commitment to promoting and protecting investments in Nepal. “There are currently 400,000 Nepali workers in Qatar, and we are working to bring domestic workers from Nepal as well,” he said.
